This project studies of LGBT participation in sport or how LGBT practice sport. Specifically it studies preferences and behaviour as these may provide us with some measure of the distinctiveness of sexual orientation inequalities and a sense of barriers to participation faced by the LGBT population.
The project collects evidence through questionnaires and interviews. If you would like to take part in the research please fill in our reseach questionnaire. The questionnaire takes about 5 minutes (or less!) to complete.
Find out more about the project and the online questionnaire.
So far equality policy in the area of sport has mainly focused on discrimination on the grounds of gender, disability and race. Discrimination and inequal treatment towards the lgbt community in sport has received much lesser attention.
As the network has access to a large pool of expertise and experiences, here is a call for those keen on the relationship between sport, law and human rights, discrimination in sport, the sociology of sport, lgbt identity in sport, and so on …. to come forward. Expressions of interest and ideas are most welcome!
